UFC Fight Night this weekend is an eleven-fight slate going down in the comfortable confines of the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is headlined by a strawweight contender’s fight featuring the surging grappler Virna Jandiroba and the devastating striker Amanda Lemos. The card has a lot of closely lined contests, so we should be in for a competitive night of fights.

Bill Algeo $8,900 vs. Doo Ho Choi $7,300
Fight Odds: -175 Algeo vs. +145 Choi
Weight Class: 145lb. (Featherweight)
Doo Ho Choi hasn’t posted a UFC win since July of 2016, but the context includes a lack of consistent fights. Choi did a mandatory military service in South Korea before returning to the octagon for an unlucky draw against Kyle Nelson. Now he is facing an opponent that Kyle Nelson dispatched in the first round in April in Atlantic City, and he has had ample time to prepare with the Korean Zombie Team. Choi has power in his hands, he is a slick striker, and Algeo may be gun shy after a stoppage loss.
Algeo has solid pace, cardio, and grappling, but he has been cracked on the chin in many of his wins and he needs to rally in rounds two and three. I think Choi can stop him early or distance himself enough in the striking in the first two rounds that he can ride out a tough round three to a decision victory. Algeo’s best chance to win is to avoid power punching exchanges and force the grappling early and often.
