After the majesty of the UFC’s trip to the White House, we have a jarring return to normal order, as the octagon returns to the familiar confines of the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Contender Series comes early, as we get a pair of matching debutants to start the night. We will also see who is coming and going in the women’s bantamweight division, as three Brazilians stake their claim in the contendership queue. Top to bottom, the fights should be exciting and tell us a lot about the prospects being spotlighted.

UFC Fight Night – Kape vs. Horiguchi: MMA DFS Picks & Betting Breakdown

Shane Collins ($8,500) vs. Otari Tanzilovi ($7,700)

Fight Odds: -210 Collins vs. +168 Tanzilovi
Weight Class: 145lb. (Featherweight)

Shane Collins (UFC Debut) looks the part of a UFC fighter despite his relatively low-level of competition on the regional scene. “Hollywood” banked a 9-2 record as an amateur before his 23rd birthday, and he is now set to make his promotional debut, riding a 7-fight professional win streak at 26 years of age. Collins has solid distance management, his punches are impactful, he knows how to wrestle in an energy-efficient manner, and he aggressively hunts for the finish. Collins is not a master in any particular domain of fighting, but he can compete in all positions, and he tends to make good decisions under fire.

Otari Tanzilovi (UFC Debut) suffered his only professional loss via split decision against Josias Musasa (0-2 UFC) on DWCS in 2024 despite outlanding his opponent 68 to 50 on significant strikes and securing 4 takedowns on 16 attempts (compared to only 1 for Musasa). In his only fight since, Tanzilovi used his wrestling to keep the fight upright against a Pan-American Wrestling medalist and Ultimate Fighter Alum Guillermo Torres (7-2 Pro), busting up his nose with a precise uppercut very early in the fight. I don’t like the lack of recent activity, the inability to finish an older opponent (38) who was busted up in round 1, and the visual of him nearly giving up a no-hooks rear naked choke to Musasa in round 3. The upside for Tanzilovi is that he has already competed in the Apex before, so the process will be more familiar to him.

Both of these fighters seem like solid additions to the UFC featherweight division, but they have similar flaws. Both men can be held against the fence and concede minutes as a result. Collins visually looks like the better wrestler and grappler of the pair, but Tanzilovi doesn’t seem like a poor grappler per se, just an unimpressive grappler who could be taken advantage of when fatigued. Collins seems to have the more consistent pace, pressure, and output of the pair, and I trust his cardio and energy-efficient style to translate a bit better in his UFC debut. That being said, this is a volatile fight on the feet with guys willing to swing (and spin) and who are there to be hit at times on film. I expect a very competitive start to this fight with the process, decision making, and cardio of Collins taking over down the stretch.

Prediction: Shane Collins defeats Otari Tanzilovi via Rd. 2/3/DEC

Karol Rosa ($8,300) vs. Luana Santos ($7,900)
