After one week off from UFC action, the octagon returns for a 9-week stint of fights. We will have a card to break down every weekend from now until April. This is the first time in more than four years that the combat sports leader will return to Houston, Texas. The main event features a high-stakes middleweight bout in which the controversial former champion Sean Strickland looks to reassert himself against the surging contender Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez. The card features many of Texas’ native sons as well as a heap of exciting, violent scraps from top to bottom.

Carli Judice ($9,700) vs. Juliana Miller ($6,500)
Fight Odds: -900 Judice vs. +520 Miller
Weight Class: W125lb. (Women’s Flyweight)
Lafayette’s “Crispy” Carli Judice (2-1 UFC) is three years younger than her Californian opponent Juliana “Killer” Miller (2-2 UFC). Both women stand 5’7”, but the Louisiana native will have a 2” reach advantage. This is as binary as a matchup can get with Judice holding a substantial speed, power, and technical advantage over her opponent on the feet. Miller will look to get this fight to the mat, as she averages more than 2 takedowns and 1 submission attempt per 15 minutes. If Miller is not able to control Judice for extended periods of time or secure a submission, she is going to be akin to a punching bag for her opponent’s combinations. Miller sports an abysmal 43% striking defense rate, she has a -1 strike differential, and she gave Luana Santos her only KO victory in 12 professional MMA appearances. I have seen enough improvement from Judice in the wrestling and grappling phases that I expect her to stay on her feet consistently enough to find a kill shot.
