The UFC returns to Perth, Western Australia with another City Kickboxing product on the cusp of title contention, as Carlos “Black Jag” Ulberg looks to ascend to a championship fight if he can defeat the resurgent Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes. The card is replete with Anzac warriors from Australia and New Zealand including a new crop of local talents looking to make their mark in their first UFC appearance. Let’s start our breakdown with an exciting female offering pitting UFC veteran Loma Lookboonmee (7-2 UFC) against Alexia Thainara (1-0 UFC).

MMA DFS and Betting Breakdown: UFC Fight Night – Ulberg vs. Reyes
Alexia Thainara ($9,200) vs. Loma Lookboonmee ($7,000)
Fight Odds: -265 Thainara vs. +200 Lookboonmee
Weight Class: 115lb. (Women’s Strawweight)
Alexia Thainara (1-0 UFC) burst onto the scene in the UFC with a dominant submission win over Molly McCann (7-7 UFC) that sent her into retirement. Thainara showed on DWCS she can land solid volume (100+ significant strikes), and she coupled that with 3 takedowns and more than 2 minutes of control time. Her 8-1 record to the submission prop and her training under the Ribas family should give her a clear path to victory in this matchup. She still has a lot to prove in the UFC, but a win over Lookboonmee would signify she is ready for ranked competition.
Loma Lookboonmee (7-2 UFC) has relied on her wrestling to win a lot of her UFC fights, racking up multiple takedowns against 4 of her last 6 opponents. Her volume has been lackluster, but she does pick her shots well and kicks opponents off balance. She understands optics to her credit. The problem I have with Lookboonmee in this matchup is that I don’t think she will be able to compete with the size, the output, and the physicality of her opponent. Lookboonmee is giving up 3” of height and 6” of reach against Thainara. Even if she gets takedowns, I am not confident she will survive the exchanges on the mat.
Prediction: Alexia Thainara defeats Loma Lookboonmee via SUB/DEC
Brando Pericic ($8,800) vs. Elisha Ellison ($7,400) –
