What are your thoughts about stacking the 5-round fights in cash games?
h3budda: There are two 5-round fights with both favorites being grappling takedown artists. They would crush the floor for their respective underdog counterparts if they hit ceilings. In cash, you are looking for the floors. I think taking O’Malley in cash is the way to go. Last time out, he scored only 20 fantasy points while getting dominated. If he can stop some more takedowns, the floor goes up (-240 fight goes to a decision). Pena has a tough task, as the fight is -240 to not go to a decision. Give me the favorites and O’Malley in cash.
Moneyball16: Both favorites, Dvalishvili and Harrison, are cash locks for me. Both are strong DFS fighters with great all-around games that could pile up takedowns. Despite only putting up 19 DK points in a 5-round decision loss in his first fight vs. Dvalishvili, I think O’Malley should be played as well. His fight is a strong favorite to go the full 5 rounds; he has decent win odds for his price, and he has historically shown the ability to score DFS points. Pena is the least appealing of the four in cash, but you could play her if you feel good about it. It would protect you from an upset against Harrison, but Pena is the biggest underdog on the slate, and she could put up a 0.
Bward586: I don’t love playing two stacks in cash games since you guarantee yourself two losing fighters. With that in mind, O’Malley was held under 20 points in his last matchup against Dvalishvili, and it’s hard to imagine he’s improved his takedown defense enough in the last 9 months that anything different will happen this time. Pena is $700 cheaper on a slate where salary is tight, so I’ll be playing the favorites and Pena.
LiamPicksFights: I don’t love the idea of stacking this week, but I would be keener on attacking the main event because O’Malley has knockdown upside (8:0 KD Ratio), and Dvalishvili has TD upside and pushes an insane pace. Pena has awful takedown defense, and she will be underneath a heavy top player, limiting her scoring upside. Harrison is an expensive click, but I think she puts up a meaningful score.
