MMA DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for UFC Fight Night – Sandhagen vs. Nurmagomedov

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Nurmagomedov – I never like picking the highest-pOWN% fighter as the top overall play, but it’s possible Nurmagomedov isn’t highly owned enough. He is a strong -300 favorite and extremely likely to put up a have-to-have-it score if he wins the fight. Fight props have him at 87.5 significant strikes and -200 odds for over 4.5 takedowns, and he’s $300 cheaper than the most expensive fighter on the card.

Moneyball16: Nurmagomedov – He has dominated everyone put in front of him in the UFC. Sandhagen is a big step up from his past opponents, but Umar is still a heavy favorite to win. With 5 rounds to work with and a great all-around game, he combines a huge ceiling with a huge floor, even if that also comes as the highest-owned fighter on the slate.

h3budda: Nurmagomedov – This is a 5-round power striker combined with grapple grapple-heavy fighter. The pace should be tremendous. He isn’t even the highest-priced fighter on the slate. You can comfortably put him in your lineups which makes him the best on-paper play.

Bward586: Brener – He’s only a slight underdog at around +145 odds but is projecting for one of the lowest ownership levels on the slate. I have no clue why, as he’s finished two of his three UFC victories and picked up 3 takedowns in his most recent loss. His opponent, Joel Alvarez, has just an 11% takedown defense in his UFC career, so Brener has big upside relative to his salary and popularity.
