UFC Fight Night – Tuivasa vs. Tybura

There is a thirteen-fight bill going down at the Apex Center in Las Vegas, and we’re here to get you primed for the action.

Chad Anheliger vs. Charalampos Grigoriou

Fight Odds: +140 Anheliger vs. -170 Grigoriou
Weight Class: 135lb. (Bantamweight)

Chad Anheliger and Charalampos Grigoriou are on opposite ends of the career spectrum. Grigoriou is the favorite entering this bout as the younger man with more recent success, having knocked out Cam Smotherman in the very first round to achieve his UFC dream as a prospect on Dana White’s Tuesday night contender series. Now the only Cypriot on the UFC roster is looking to take out a seasoned veteran in Chad Anheliger, who will be fighting for his UFC future, as this is the last bout on his contract.

The problem I have with getting behind Grigoriou here is he has lost to common opponent Josh Smith via UDEC while Anheliger dispatched Smith via guillotine choke in the second round. Anheliger is a proven scrapper against UFC-level competition, and Grigoriou is still getting his feet wet inside the promotion. If the Cypriot can connect with his power and explosive striking early, he could be the first man to KO Anheliger, but the Canadian’s toughness, veteran savvy, and experience on the mat could make the difference for the underdog. Grigoriou tends to slow down over the course of 15 minutes, and Anheliger has achieved comeback knockouts, submissions, and decisions in his career. I think this old dog has one more surprise up his sleeve.

Prediction: Chad Anheliger defeats Charalampos Grigoriou via SUB3/SDEC

Cory McKenna vs. Jaqueline Amorim
