Welcome to the weekend and to SquirrelPatrol’s Takedowns for UFC Fight Night – Namajunas vs. Cortez. This card is taking place in the high altitude of Denver, Colorado and has seen a number of fights added or changed within the past few weeks. The Main Event features Rose Namajunas vs. Tracy Cortez in a women’s flyweight bout that is scheduled for five rounds. This could be a highly volatile card with the altitude likely to be a factor. Let’s see if we can find some overlooked fighters to help us take down a GPP this weekend.

Cody Brundage has been making the most of his recent UFC opportunities, going 2-1 over his last three fights, with the only loss coming to Bo Nickal. The record looks better than reality, however, as one of those wins against Jacob Malkoun last year actually came when Brundage was getting dominated in the fight and Malkoun was disqualified for illegal strikes to the back of the head. Flipping that win to a loss would make Brundage 1-5 in his last 6 UFC fights, and he is seeing a low 16% pOwn% as a result. Brundage could pull off the upset against Abdul Razak Alhassan, however, who will be one of the most popular fighters on the slate. Brundage was able to send Bo Nickal to two rounds, and if he can build off of that and last in the altitude against Alhassan, he would be a major leverage piece on this slate.
