UFC 287: Pereira vs. Adesanya

Editor’s Note: Commentary on the Undercard is forthcoming.

The UFC has frequented the “sunshine state” of Florida throughout the years, but they haven’t been in Miami since UFC 42 in 2003. Now the combat sports leader has returned with a classic middleweight title rematch that is billed as the conclusion of the Pereira and Adesanya multi-sport rivalry. Adesanya has collared himself like a dog before this fight putting a clear visual representation to his situation; he is backed into a corner and he plans on coming out fighting. The co-main event features “Street Jesus” Jorge Masvidal, seeking his redemption on the eve of Easter in front of his own people. Title fights will always be given deference for main events, but the Miami faithful will be assembled to see a baptism for the ages or the final chapter in the greatest career in Florida MMA history as “Gamebred” takes on Gilbert Burns in a must win fight for his future as a title contender.
