UFC Fight Night: Tom Aspinall vs. Marcin Tybura

The octagon is headed back to London for the second time this calendar year, stacked with European talent and thrilling action fights. Headlining the occasion is the return of England’s heavyweight title hopeful, Tom Aspinall, nearly one year to the day after he suffered a first-round loss against Curtis Blaydes via injury less than one minute into the main event showcase. Aspinall returns to the scene of his injury to take on Marcin “Tybur” Tybura, a battle-tested veteran in the best form of his career. What Tybura lacks in dynamic finishing ability he makes up for with savvy tactics and a persistence that has broken many heavyweight foes. With fifteen fights to dissect, let us begin in the flyweight division with a fun action fight between two contender series products.

Jafel Filho vs. Daniel Barez

Fight Odds: -115 Filho vs. -105 Barez
Weight Class: 125lb. (Flyweight)

Jafel Filho is returning to London after accounting himself well against Muhammad Mokaev in March, nearly securing a third-round knee bar before succumbing to a rear naked choke in an ensuing scramble. Filho has shown himself to be dangerous on the feet and on the ground, but he has been fighting younger fighters who are still developing physically and maturing into their style.

Daniel Barez is a UFC debutant with a bounty of regional experience and excellent power in his hands for the flyweight division. Despite losing a narrow split decision to Carlos Hernandez on the Contender Series, Barez proved his worth and his ability to compete at the UFC level. Hernandez nearly submitted him in round two, but he rallied to make round three competitive. Barez has explosive double legs, with volume and power on the feet. Filho is the better pure grappler, but he has been defeated regionally, and Barez is UFC ready and starts hot. I like Barez to connect with his power punches and start the card off with a bang.

Prediction: Daniel Barez defeats Jafel Filho via KO1

Bruna Brasil vs. Shauna Bannon
