MMA Event Breakdown – UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Hill

The UFC is back in the Apex stomping grounds for a short notice main event between Angela “Overkill” Hill and the higher ranked jiu jitsu ace MacKenzie Dern. This will be Hill’s second main event opportunity with the company while Dern will be looking to reverse her fortune in her third main event opportunity by notching her first victory. Dern has been defeated over five rounds by Marina Rodriguez and Yan Xiaonan, so she is back to the drawing board against a lower ranked opponent on Saturday. That being said, Hill is coming off two straight victories as an underdog and has been impressive throughout her recent UFC tenure, so the pairing should make for an exciting cap to an action packed event.

Takashi Sato vs. Themba Gorimbo

Fight Odds: +105 Sato vs. -125 Gorimbo
Weight Class: 170lb. (Welterweight)

Themba Gorimbo impressed UFC fans with his fast start against “The Ghost” AJ Fletcher in his UFC debut. Now he gets his second opportunity to make an impression against Takashi Sato, a middling UFC veteran with a 2-4 record in the organization and no stand out wins. Sato will be looking to bounce back from a horrific KO loss at the hands of Bryan Battle last summer. Returning after nearly a year off, Sato could be plagued by diminished confidence and ring rust and he already has his hands full with Gorimbo who has a 3” height and reach advantage and a more dynamic skill set on the mat. If Gorimbo can leverage his long range strikes and his takedowns, I believe he will make this fight look easy

.Prediction: Themba Gorimbo defeats Takashi Sato via KO1

Victoria Leonardo vs. Natalia Silva
