UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Topuria
Elite featherweight matchups have become one of the most bankable main event archetypes for the UFC, particularly for fight night events in the post-pandemic era. This card represents the combat sports leader putting their best foot forward so to speak, as they have placement on linear ABC broadcasts for just the fifth time in the life of the partnership between Disney and the UFC. The card is replete with ranked fighters, interesting matchups, and compelling prospects, leaving the title eliminator between Emmett and Topuria as a cherry atop an otherwise substantive fight night sundae. With thirteen fights currently on tap, we have much to discuss.
Cody Brundage vs. Seqriques Dumas

Cody Brundage is a fighter out of FactoryX Muay Thai in Colorado, and he comes from a collegiate wrestling background. He is trying to bounce back from a two-fight losing skid inside the octagon, dropping bouts against Michal Oleksiejczuk via TKO and Rodolfo Vieira via submission after pulling guard on a guillotine attempt against perhaps the most credentialed Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt in the UFC. Brundage is athletic and has shown upside as a dynamic finisher, but his defense is suspect, his in-fight decision making is poor, and he lacks the ability to function clearly in the fire that he needs to avoid catastrophic self-immolations as his cardio begins to flag.
Dumas on the other hand was served a cold slice of humble pie from Josh Fremd, who easily dispatched him via guillotine choke in his UFC debut. Dumas is a rangy kicker fighting out of Florida, and he has committed to improving his grappling with the folks at Fusion X-Cel. Dumas will have the largest reach advantage of anyone on the card, and he is a dynamic threat on the feet. He has opportunistic submission catches, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Floridian underdog upset the apple cart in the first fight of the night.
