Monday, January 11th - FanDuel Single Game Analysis: TOR @ POR

Is your main slate lineup looking rough? Or did you not get off work in time to make one? Or just looking for a little more action? Don’t worry, FanDuel has you covered with their Single Game format. Monday night’s marquee game is Toronto @ Portland starting at 10 PM ET. You can make a lineup with players from just this game. Below are some options for players to use in the MVP slot and other cheap options that will allow you to fit in the big dogs.

Top MVP Options

CJ McCollum ($14,000) – I was fully expecting to write up Damian Lillard here (Lillard is still a fine MVP option) but McCollum is arguably the better overall play at a cheaper price tag. McCollum has surprisingly led the team with a 30% usage rate through Portland’s first nine games of the season and is averaging a ridiculous 27.9 points per game, the highest of his career by a wide margin. Additionally, McCollum is averaging a team-best 1.32 FanDuel points per minute. If you’re planning on playing multiple lineups, I like the idea of swapping McCollum and Lillard around in the MVP and Star slots.

Pascal Siakam ($13,500) – If you’re looking to get more unique than McCollum or Lillard, Pascal Siakam makes sense. Siakam had a bit of a slower start to the season with a disciplinary hiccup mixed in but has looked much better of late, scoring 40+ FanDuel points in three-straight games. Toronto has decided to play smaller lineups over the last two games which should mean more minutes for Siakam at the 5 and theoretically more rebounding opportunities. Notbaly, Siakam has grabbed 9+ boards in each of the last three games.

Top Value Options

Gary Trent ($6,500) – Trent hasn’t shown much fantasy appeal of late but is seemingly starting to see his minutes stabilize with 27+ minutes of court time in three of the last four games. Don’t expect too much from Trent in the box score – we currently have him projected for just 17 FanDuel points – it’s just a matter of what his super cheap price tag allows you to do. If you play Trent in a UTIL slot you can fit any heavy hitters you want in the MVP/STAR/PRO slots.

Robert Covington ($9,000)Robert Covington isn’t nearly as cheap as Trent but does seem to have a little more upside as a starter for the Trail Blazers. Covington is an extremely low usage (10% this season) player that will need to be active defensively and on the boards if he’s going to post a strong fantasy performance.
