Which NFL teams traveled the furthest in 2024-25?

los angeles chargers were the most traveled team of the 2024-25 season

The NFL season is a grueling test of endurance, and the schedule can affect even the most well-equipped franchises.

Teams find themselves crisscrossing the country to play their games, and when you throw in the international games, the travel mileage soon racks up.

Some teams log significantly more miles than others due to scheduling, division alignment, and international travel which can be key factors in the level of fatigue amongst rosters.

By using Google Maps and basing it on teams traveling from stadium to stadium on a one-way trip, the team here at RotoGrinders analyzed all 32 franchises to see which team traveled the furthest in 2024/25.

Top 10 Most Traveled NFL Franchises

Rank Team Total Mileage Traveled
1 Los Angeles Chargers 17,324
2 Los Angeles Rams 16,833
3 Seattle Seahawks 16,313
4 Miami Dolphins 15,523
5 San Francisco 49ers 14,620
6 Philadelphia Eagles 14,618
7 Minnesota Vikings 14,311
8 New England Patriots 14,070
9 Las Vegas Raiders 13,595
10 Denver Broncos 13,052

Let’s take a look at the top 5 teams who traveled the furthest:

Los Angeles Chargers – 17,324 miles

The Chargers top the list with an incredible 17,324 miles traveled throughout the season. Being based on the West Coast, they frequently face long trips across the country, making their travel burden one of the highest in the league. And that’s despite not having any international games across last season.

The Chargers made it to the wild card round of the playoffs, but for their away trips, they racked up an average of 1,732 per game on the road. This big travel burden certainly made an impact on how people were using the Chargers in their lineups on the top DFS apps.

Los Angeles Rams – 16,833 miles

Sharing a city with the Chargers, the Rams also faced a heavy travel schedule. Their 16,833 miles traveled put them right behind their LA counterparts, reinforcing how West Coast teams tend to rack up more travel miles.

Just like their LA counterparts, the Rams managed to make a playoff run before losing out to eventual champions Philadelphia Eagles.

Seattle Seahawks – 16,313 miles

No stranger to long flights, the Seahawks regularly log extensive miles for away games. Again, another team who didn’t have the international games to factor in, but their location is isolated from the rest of the league meaning their trips are usually long haul.

Miami Dolphins – 15,523 miles

As the only East Coast team in the top five, Miami’s placement here is noteworthy. Their schedule included several long trips which quickly racked up the mileage and their inclusion in the top five.

San Francisco 49ers – 14,620 miles

Another West Coast team rounds out the top five, the 49ers most of the time have to endure extensive cross-country travel, which contributed to their high total of 14,620 miles.

Other team’s mileage

Despite going all the way to Super Bowl LIX and having to travel to Brazil for the opening game of the season, the Eagles missed out on the top five by just two miles to the 49ers.

The Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots had trips to London this year which explains their inclusion amongst the top 10, but other franchises such as Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers who had international games this season were all also outside the top traveled teams.

At the other end of the spectrum, it was the Cincinnati Bengals who traveled the least number of miles throughout last season with just 12,308 based on a one-way trip. Despite having this supposed advantage, the odds were against the Bengals in other ways and they failed to make the playoffs.

Methodology

All 32 NFL teams were analyzed for distance traveled between stadium to stadium based on a one-way trip using Google Maps.

International games were calculated by using a distance calculator.

All data correct as of March 2025.
