NASCAR By the Numbers: Go Bowling 400

This week we head to Kansas for the GoBowling 400, and it’s a Saturday night race (7:30est FS1). Kansas should be a lot like Las Vegas from earlier this season, as both of these tracks have the same type of grip level. Joe Gibbs Racing was very strong on Friday, and I’m expecting them to be strong again this weekend. The spring races are run at night, and the fall races are during the daytime. While all races here are important, I would weigh the spring races heavier when doing research.

KANSAS1

Kevin Harvick – $10,400 – Starting 26th – Start your cash lineups with Harvick this weekend. This team continues with qualifying this season, and he’s a great place differential play this weekend. Harvick has the third highest driver rating, and an average finish of 9.8 over 16 races here. He comes in with the highest driver rating over the last three spring races here, and he’s finished 12th or better in five straight spring races. In twenty career races here, he’s only finished worse than 26th (his starting spot this weekend) one time.

Matt Kenseth – $9,900 – Starting 2nd – Can the bad luck finally come to an end this weekend, we all hope so. Kenseth has led the highest percentage of laps, and he dominated the race last October until Logano punted him late. I feel like Kenseth and Truex are the dominators we want to target this weekend, and Kenseth has shown a ton of speed to start the weekend. Kenseth also has the second highest average running position here, and an average finish of 5.4 in spring races.

KANSAS2

Martin Truex Jr. – $9,200 – Starting 1st – I just mentioned with Kenseth, I like Truex and Kenseth for dominator points this weekend. While Truex has never started from the pole here, he has been very good at this racetrack. He has five top ten finishes in his last eight races here. The pole position has scored the most fantasy points at Kansas, and he gets the benefit of having the best pit stall this weekend. While Furniture Row Racing isn’t JGR, they have an alliance this season, and Truex has a lot of JGR guys starting behind him here tonight.

Kasey Kahne – $8,200 – Starting 27th – Kahne did us a favor on Friday, and he’s starting 27th tonight. Kahne finished top ten at Las Vegas, and Kansas has always been one of his best tracks. He has six top ten finishes in the last ten races here, and five of those have been top five finishes. When starting 27th, we worry about being able to pass and moving up during the race. Kahne has the third most quality passes here at Kanas, and the second highest driver rating over the last three spring races.

Value Play

AJ Allmendinger – $6,900 – Starting 29th – Allmendinger is shaping up to be a very solid cash option this weekend, and he should be a guy you target for place differential. He has a career 21.4 average finish here. Hate to bring it up again, but Las Vegas has been one of Allmendinger’s best tracks, and he finished 14th there in March. Allmendinger has finished 14th or better in two of the last three races here. He’s having a career season, and comes in with an average finish of 16.9 in 2016.
