COTA did not disappoint, and the whole weekend was great. I look forward to more road courses with this new car. This weekend, we go short track racing in Richmond. Richmond is a .75-mile D-Shaped short flat track. I don’t comp Bristol or Dover with Richmond, even though they’re both short tracks. The best comps for Richmond are Phoenix and New Hampshire. We’ve had a race at Phoenix already this season, which gives us some data to look at. Like most races this season, we will have two separate shorter practice sessions on Saturday and qualifying to follow.

DraftKings NASCAR Fantasy Preview

The stages are 70, 160, and 170, which is a total of 400 laps. With 400 laps, we’re looking at 40 laps completed, and 40 laps led points on FanDuel. We have a potential of 180 fastest lap points and 100 laps led points. With 280 potential dominator points on DraftKings, nailing the dominators are going to be king. With soft pricing, we’re looking for two to three dominators in most lineups. There have been three dominators in three straight races here at Richmond.

Last 5 DK Optimal Lineups at Richmond

2021 2 – Denny Hamlin (123.65), Martin Truex Jr. (86.8), Christopher Bell (83.8), Ross Chastain (53.4), Chase Briscoe (37.45), Ryan Newman (27) – $49,900 – 412.1 – 3 Dominators

2021 1 – Denny Hamlin (133.8), Martin Truex Jr. (95.05), Alex Bowman (82.65), Daniel Suarez (38.45), Corey LaJoie (36), Ross Chastain (31.9) – $49,500 – 417.85 – 3 Dominators

2020 – Brad Keselowski (124), Austin Dillon (80.75), Joey Logano (64.75), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (46.5), Tyler Reddick (46), Christopher Bell (44.5) – $49,500 – 406.5 – 3 Dominators

2019 2 – Kyle Busch (130), Martin Truex Jr. (102.25), Ryan Newman (61), Bubba Wallace (60.5), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (42), David Ragan (42) – $49,400 – 437.75 – 2 Dominators – Kes had over 40 dominator points and wasn’t optimal

2019 1 – Martin Truex Jr. (113.5), Denny Hamlin (68), Clint Bowyer (62.5), Jimmie Johnson (56), Ryan Newman (51.5), Daniel Suarez (51) – $50,000 – 402.5 – 1 Dominator (Truex) Logano and Harvick had a lot of dominator points, but a lot of cars failed pre-race tech. There was a ton of place differential in this race.

Outside of Chase Elliott, no other driver is better than 10/1 to win this race. Elliott has good track history and had a lot of speed in Phoenix, but I don’t think he should be the clear favorite. Ryan Blaney has struggled at Richmond in his career, but he’s been the fastest car all season on all track types. Ross Chastain has been very fast all season, and he’s coming off his first career win in the NASCAR Cup Series. I like Blaney at +1400 and Chastain at +1300 before we get into practice and qualifying. SugarHouse and BetMGM have top ten odds up. I like Austin Dillon +150 on SugarHouse for a top ten. He’s had plenty of speed this season, and this has been a good track for him in the past.
