This weekend, we head to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Autotrader 400. The race is Sunday at 3pm ET on FOX. You can’t use any of the data prior to 2022, and we only have an 8-race sample size. Being a 1.5-mile drafting track, it’s such a unique racetrack. It makes it tough to compare it to any other track. With that said, we’ve seen a trend with the new car on drafting tracks: Track position is way more important than it was with the old car. We want aggressive drivers who want to run toward the front. I’ll be looking at recent Atlanta data, recent superspeedway data, 2025 speed, and a few others when building lineups this weekend. Unlike Daytona and Talladega, dominators have come into play at the new Atlanta in 6 of those 8 races. The track is getting more tire wear, which could lead to more fuel saving and single-file car runs. No qualifying has granted a lot of potential place differential with a lot of potential chalk.
