NASCAR By The Numbers - Food City 500

This weekend, we head to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500. The race is Sunday at 3pm on FS1. This is the final race of the first round of the playoffs. Goodyear has another new tire for Bristol this weekend, and it’s supposed to handle the weather changes a lot better. Ryan Preece, Alex Bowman, and Bubba Wallace did the tire test. Ty Gibbs ran a 15.62 on lap 60 in practice, and his fastest lap was lap 15 with a 15.47. There was little to no fall off, which concerns me for passing on a long run. Also, the bottom will have PJ1 and be the dominant line early, but the top will come in and will make it hard to pass. Group A had a cleaner track that had more speed early in practice. It was the opposite in qualifying. Group B was closer to race conditions, which gives them a bump for me. I’ll be using recent Bristol data (weighing the tire fall off races less), 2026 speed, Dover data, practice data, pit road data, and a few other things when building lineups.

The stages are 125, 125, and 250, which is a total of 500 laps. With 500 laps, we’re looking at 225 fastest laps points and 125 laps led points on DraftKings. On FanDuel, we have 50 points for laps led and 50 points for laps completed.
