This weekend we head to Las Vegas, Nevada for the South Point 400. The race is Sunday at 5:30pm ET on USA. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile intermediate track. The best comp is Kansas, with Texas and Charlotte after that. With a little more tire wear now, I’ll even mix a little Darlington, Homestead, and Chicagoland into my model. This is the same tire code they ran here last fall, and the same tire they’ve used at multiple high-speed intermediates this season. Some drivers made short runs to start practice, but the Toyota’s were the class of the field. I’ll be looking at recent Las Vegas data, Las Vegas/Kansas data, the higher speed intermediates, practice, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend. I still think practice is the best comp for this weekend.
