This weekend we head to Las Vegas, Nevada for the South Point 400. The race is Sunday at 5:30pm ET on USA. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile intermediate track. The best comp is Kansas, with Texas and Charlotte after that. With a little more tire wear now, I’ll even mix a little Darlington and Homestead date into my model. This is the same right-side tire they ran at Kansas a few weeks ago. This is the first time they’ve used this tire code at Las Vegas. Group A had a little more fall off in practice, and Group B dominated qualifying. I’ll be looking at recent Las Vegas data, Las Vegas/Kansas data, the higher speed intermediates (Kansas, Vegas, Charlotte, Texas, Michigan), practice, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend.
