This weekend, we head to Michigan International Speedway for the DQS Solutions & Staffing 250. The race is Saturday at 1:30pm ET on FS1. Michigan is a 2-mile large oval. Michigan is one of the fastest intermediate tracks in NASCAR. This is the same tire they’ve run at Vegas, Nashville, and Charlotte earlier this season. The Truck Series returned to Michigan last season for the first time since 2020. There were 9 cautions for 47 laps, and there were 20 lead changes in last season’s race. Stewart Friesen won from 17th, and only 18 trucks finished on the lead lap. I’ll be using practice data, recent speed data, high-speed intermediate data, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend.

Like I mentioned on Discord earlier this week, Michigan has been one of the highest-correlated tracks for my practice model since I’ve built it. Last season, Corey Heim, Rajah Caruth, Tanner Gray, Layne Riggs, Ross Chastain, Kaden Honeycutt, Chandler Smith, and Carson Hocevar were the best trucks. In that race, Hocevar, Caruth, Heim, Chastain, Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, and Riggs were the top trucks in speed. We have a tight window with practice and qualifying this weekend, but practice is going to be a key factor. I will have everything loaded by 1pm ET in our NASCAR Optimizer, LineupHQ.

The stages are 30, 30, and 65, which is a total of 125 laps. With 125 laps, we’re looking at 56.25 potential fastest lap points and 31.25 laps led points. The last 5 races here had 9, 11, 8, 5, and 5 cautions.
