This weekend we head to Naval Base Coronado for the Navy 250. It’s a new street track on the naval base. It’s a 16-turn, 3.4-mile street course. This is the same road course tire that was used at St. Petersburg and Watkins Glen earlier this season. With a new track and a street course, it’s a tough race to comp. The Truck Series didn’t run at the Chicago Street Course last season, but they did race at St. Petersburg earlier this season. I think St. Petersburg is the best comp for this weekend. I’ll also be weighing the two practice sessions very heavily this weekend. The biggest thing to remember: it’s only a 50-lap race. One last note – drivers (except Austin Hill in NOAPS) are only allowed to run one series this weekend, which means no driver has an advantage over another as far as track time.
NASCAR Truck Series DFS Picks – Navy 250
The stages are 12, 12, and 26, which is a total of 50 laps. With 50 laps, we’re looking at 22.5 fastest-lap points and 12.5 laps-led points. With cautions, we’re looking at 28 to 32 dominator points. We’ve already had 4 trucks hit the wall in first practice, and it looks like turn 16 is going to be a problem this weekend.
