This weekend, we head to Circuit of the Americas for the XPEL 225. This is the first road course race of the 2024 season. COTA is a fantastic road course, and I’m glad it’s been added to the NASCAR schedule. It’s a 20-turn, 3.426-mile track, that has multiple elevation changes. Stage cautions are back this season and will benefit the drivers that forgo stage points to be on the race-winning strategy. Ford has won each of the last three Truck races here, and all three races were won from 7th or better starting positions. Last season, there were three cautions for 5 laps, but in 2022, there were 8 cautions for 12 laps. In the first Truck race here in 2021, there were only 2 cautions for 2 laps. I’ll be using COTA data, recent road course data, recent speed, practice, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend.
