This weekend, we head to Circuit of the Americas for the Focused Health 250. This is the first road course race of the 2024 season. COTA is a fantastic road course, and I’m glad it’s been added to the NASCAR schedule. It’s a 20-turn, 3.426-mile track that has multiple elevation changes. Stage cautions are back this season and will benefit the drivers that forgo stage points to be on the race winning strategy.
The Xfinity Series ran eight road courses last season and have run a total of 14 over the last two seasons. I’ll be using recent COTA data, recent road course data, practice, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend. Last season, there were 5 cautions for 7 laps, and the prior two races had 4 cautions for 8 and 7 laps. The race winner has started 4th or better in each of those 4 races and has been on the optimal in each race.

The stages are 15, 15, and 38, which is a total of 68 laps. With 68 laps, we’re looking at 30.6 potential fastest lap points and 17 laps led points. Place differential is king, but like I mentioned above, the race winner has been optimal in each of the three races here.
