NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday: Nets at 76ers -7, O/U 223
The 76ers have been sporadic all season, but they come into this game on a bit of a downswing. They currently sit at 6th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 25-16, but have lost six of their last 10 games and will be without Joel Embiid, who continues to sit out after breaking his finger and subsequently undergoing surgery last week.
This season, the 76ers rank 20th in pace of play, 6th in defensive efficiency, and 17th in offensive efficiency, but in the last three games without Embiid the numbers drop to 29th in pace, 12th in defensive efficiency, and 27th in offensive efficiency. Even though they come into this game in very poor form, they have been fantastic at home this season going 10-8-2 ATS and 18-2 straight up compared to 6-13-2 ATS and 7-14 straight up on the road.
The Nets enter Wednesday in similarly poor form. They currently sit at 8th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-21, but they are 2-8 in their last 10 games. Yesterday, Kyrie Irving played his second game in a row after a long absence. The Nets only played him 19 minutes on Sunday against Atlanta, but he was a full-go Tuesday night in Utah. Irving played over 30 minutes against the Jazz, dropping 32 points in the process. There’s currently no news of Irving sitting on the second end of a back-to-back. Though the Nets are a drastically different team with Kyrie on the floor, for the season they sit at 9th in pace, 13th in defensive efficiency, and 24th in offensive efficiency.
NBA Betting Picks: Under 223
Even though the total for this game has shot up 3.5 total points since it’s opening, I still really like the under in this matchup. The Nets are a much better offensive team with Kyrie in the lineup, but I don’t know how many minutes we can count on him playing tonight. The Nets are on the second end of a back-to-back for the fifth time this season. They failed to cover the Over the first four times they were in this situation. The 76ers come into this game in terrible offensive form. As you can see above, since Embiid has left their offense has struggled immensely and have been playing at one of the slowest paces in the league.
