NBA Daily Plays (GPP Edition): Friday, Nov. 8th
We have a big Friday night of NBA action ahead of us. The Friday edition of daily plays are going to focus on tournament plays, but since none of the sites have announced their NBA championships, we will label them as GPP plays. This means that I will be recommending players that have extremely high upside. They are a bit riskier than the players I would use in H2H and 50/50 games, but are great plays if you like to chase the GPP’s. Let’s get to it!

Point Guard

- Michael Carter-Williams – MCW has started the season off on fire and he’s turned me into a believer. He doesn’t have anyone challenging him for minutes and has incredible upside. He’s scored over 35 FP’s in 3 of the first 5 games and has a great chance to do that again tonight against Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers. While MCW may be hard to trust in H2H and 50/50 leagues, he makes a terrific GPP play thanks to his upside and his ability to get 5+ steals any given night.
- Toney Douglas – Stephen Curry is questionable at best for tonight’s game. While we probably won’t get an official word on him until later in the day, I would imagine that the Warriors will be careful with their franchise player and sit him out tonight. That would give Douglas a spot start and it would make him a great plug and play option tonight against the Spurs. He is cheap across the board and should see a huge increase in production if he gets the start.
Shooting Guard
- Monta Ellis – Monta is one of my favorite GPP plays in all of the NBA. He’s tough to rely on night in and night out, but he is going to put up monster fantasy games throughout the season. He’s already had two games over 45 FP’s and could easily get there tonight against Kevin Martin and the Wolves. Both Martin and Ellis are more concerned with scoring than playing defense so I could see them both having nice games offensively. Monta can put up points in a hurry and his price is in that mid-range.
- Dion Waiters – Waiters started off the season ice cold, but has started to heat up over the last few games. His price is very affordable across the board and he’s one of the very few options in his price range that could put up 30 points. He should excel in an uptempo game against the Sixers. I’m still not trusting him in cash games, but his upside makes him a solid GPP play.
Small Forward
- Carmelo Anthony – The Knicks will be without Tyson Chandler tonight and when they were without him last season, Melo really picked up his rebounding. It’s usually tough taking Melo because he relies so much on his scoring in his fantasy production, but if he can start rebounding more, he will become a much better fantasy option. My guess is that people will fade him tonight in his matchup with MKG, which is why he makes a nice GPP play.
- Rudy Gay – Gay has been under-performing so far this season and nothing scares away DFS players faster than a cold player in a bad matchup. But Gay’s price has come down significantly and he is still a player that could put up 40 FP’s. This is a calculated risk that could really pay off in some of these bigger tournaments.
Power Forward

- Thaddeus Young – Thad-Rad is in the same boat as Rudy, he’s been under-performing and his price has taken a big hit across the board. I always like buying low on star players because you know that it’s only a matter of time before they snap out of their funk. Thaddeus can average 30 FP’s a night when he is locked in and his price is just way too low for him to not be considered.
- Kenneth Faried – Faried will not be owned by very many people tonight. Even last night with only 2 games, he was one of the lower owned players on the board. Yet he has nice upside and a good matchup against a Suns frontcourt that has not played great defense this season. The minutes on a back to back are a bit of a concern, but Faried is one of those players that could make a difference in a GPP.
Center
- Andrea Bargnani – I love the Bargnani play tonight. He will be starting at Center and should see his minutes increase to somewhere in the range of 25-30. While he still doesn’t play defense and can’t be relied upon to rebound, he can score with the best of them and Biyombo should have a tough time defending him on the perimeter. He’s a nice play in all types of leagues tonight.
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck tonight!
