NBA DFS 2018/19 Offseason Primer

Hello Grinders. The 2018-19 NBA season is upon us, and if you haven’t been paying attention to the offseason, or Summer League, or Preseason, or if you’ve just been hibernating in your parent’s basement for the past four months and living off of Hot Cheetos and Mountain Dew, don’t fret because we have you covered!

The goal of this article is to highlight some of the biggest offseason changes, my observations from following the preseason, and summarizing what it means for us as DFS players. Several teams have new players, systems and coaching staffs, and so it’s possible for us to gain an edge over other DFS players early in the season knowing these changes.

Hayward’s addition to the Celtics. How has the impact been there?

Great info Allan!!! Where did you get the Pre Season Line info on the Rookies you posted? I would like to see that to gather info on other players.

It’s one more mouth to feed and I’m thinking it may impact the playing time of the second unit (Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier).

Thank you. I pulled it from their ESPN player page.

Embarrassing question but what’s the definition of usage?

Not embarrassing at all. There’s a good definition here but it’s basically the percentage of plays used by a player when on the court: https://rotogrinders.com/lessons/what-is-usage-rate-919038

Jimmy Butler plays to win so if he does suit up to play for the T-Wolves I expect him to play winning basketball just like he always does. Strange situation for sure however. Not that it makes it right but he flipped out at the starters because he beat them in a scrimmage with the four bottom guys on the bench.
