Happy Wednesday!
We are inching closer to the holiday season, which, in my opinion, is the best season.
I made a rookie mistake with my main lineup on DraftKings last night. There was a lot of late news, and I was trying to get the updates posted here in the article as well as update the rankings in the tables. I was running different potential lineups in LineupHQ with my Core Plays locked and landed on a lineup I liked. However, I didn’t think it through. The lineup had Goga Bitadze, who was playing in the first set of games. This was a mistake because Jusuf Nurkic and Deandre Ayton were both questionable at the time. I limited the flexibility of my lineup by playing Bitadze. He wasn’t a bad play, but he wasn’t a good enough play to warrant locking him with other key players still listed as questionable.
Even after playing DFS for so many years, I still try to look back and see what I did right or wrong with slates. The only way to get better is to learn. There are plenty of ways to learn, but figuring out what you did wrong is always a good start. We now turn our attention to tonight’s 11-game slate. As has been the case all season, DraftKings has left the late games off of their main slate. This means DraftKings has an 8-game main slate, and FanDuel has an 11-game main slate. Nine teams are playing on the second half of a back-to-back (Magic, Celtics, Knicks, Sixers, Pistons, Bucks, Wolves, Blazers, Suns), so I have to imagine it’s going to be a busy news day in the association.
I always love hearing from RotoGrinders members, so shoot me a DM on Twitter or in the RG Discord at any time.

Team Previews
Indiana Pacers (at ORL)
We kick off the slate with the Pacers, who have a pace-down matchup on the road against a very good defensive team. Indiana has ruled out Andrew Nembhard, Aaron NeSmith, and Isaiah Jackson. This opens up approximately 50 minutes of playing time on the wing. The main beneficiaries should be Bennedict Mathurin and Ben Sheppard, but neither player projects particularly well in the context of this large slate. Myles Turner is still cheap on DraftKings ($6,400) and has averaged 41 fantasy points over his last 4 games.
Orlando Magic (vs. IND)
The Magic are playing on the second half of a back-to-back, but their starters got some early rest in the blowout win. They host the Pacers, who are 25th in points allowed per game this season. Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter have been ruled out and are the only players on Orlando’s injury report. Goga Bitadze will start at center and has logged at least 27 minutes in each of the last 3 games that were competitive. Moe Wagner will pick up the rest of the minutes at center. I’m more interested in the players who have seen usage upticks with Banchero out. Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs both have high ceilings in a favorable matchup at home.
