What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. I am going to eat a lot of chalk, with the Celtics and Austin Reaves. I’m not getting super contrarian, but two players who are projecting for lower ownership that I want to be overweight on are Sandro Mamukelashvili and Noah Clowney.
headChopper: I am playing smaller-field GPPs that are single entry or have limited entries. I’m just building 1 lineup, and in these types of contests, I don’t mind eating some chalk, so guys like Payton Pritchard and Austin Reaves are still on my radar. Somewhere along the way, I’ll get just different enough in a subtle way to try to make sure my lineup isn’t duplicated in these small fields. That might be some sort of combination with LeBron James and a salary saver or Jaden McDaniels with a more balanced 2v2.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field contests, and I’ll likely have at least two Celtics in every single lineup. I’m going to completely ignore the Pelicans, 76ers, and potentially the Warriors if they’re healthy, while loading up on the Celtics, Raptors, and Lakers.
Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
