Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Evan Mobley – I like Darius Garland for this answer as well, but Chop already gave a great explanation for him, so I’ll give one for Mobley. With Mitchell off the floor this season, he has seen a 9% usage boost and a 0.22 FP/min boost. He’s affordable on both sites and draws a nice matchup against the Pacers, who are 29th in rebounding rate and 24th in points allowed per game this season.
headChopper: Darius Garland – Indiana can be tough to attack from the 3-point line, as they do a good job of funneling action into the paint, but Garland without Donovan Mitchell is simply too strong to pass up. When Garland is on the floor with Mitchell off this season, he leads the team with a 31% usage rate, producing 1.2 DraftKings points per minute (1.1 on FanDuel). That’s a significant jump from his baseline 25% usage rate and lower fantasy points per minute. At $7,200 on DK and $6,800 on FD, the salary just isn’t aligned with the role and production uptick Garland should see.
ncorfield8k: Paolo Banchero – Banchero has played at least 35 minutes in each of his past 5 games, and if the Wizards can keep it close, he should keep that streak going. It’s a great matchup, as the Wizards have played at the 11th-fastest pace over the last 10 games while ranking 20th in defensive rating. It’s the 2nd-best matchup for Versatile Forwards in our Defense vs. Archetype tool.
Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
