NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, February 9
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Brandon Ingram – With so many players out tonight, it will be easy to go with the stars and scrubs roster construction. A number of mid-range players will end up getting overlooked. I’m hoping that’s the case for Ingram. He could see a sizable uptick in usage if Zion and/or Valanciunas end up being out. He put up 68 fantasy points on Monday night and has some added motivation against his former team.
squirrelpatrol: Brandon Ingram – Zion Williamson is questionable tonight, setting up a potential Brandon Ingram (5 years later) revenge game against the Lakers in LA. Ingram actually does average more points per game (24.4) against the Lakers than any other team in the NBA over his career, and he is averaging 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game over his last 10 games this season.
eys819: Trae Young – In 7 games since Joel Embiid initially injured his knee, the Sixers rank dead last with a 125.7 defensive rating. That mark would be the worst in the league by over 4 points for the full season. Now, trades have thinned out the roster even further, making this a dream spot for Trae Young. Dejounte Murray is also questionable on the injury report, and Trae would enter ‘lock button’ territory if Dejounte were ruled out. As it stands now, with Dejounte projected in, Trae’s pOWN% is resting comfortably under 10%, which makes him an elite tournament play.
tcsmith031: Miles Bridges – The Hornets are another shorthanded team on the heels of the trade deadline. Bridges leads the team with a 29.5% usage rate and a strong 1.29 DK FP/minute average, with LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, Terry Rozier, PJ Washington, and Mark Williams all off the floor this season. Milwaukee’s defense has taken a serious step back this season, and we’ve seen Bridges consistently average upwards of 40 minutes per game of late. He isn’t garnering much projected ownership either, despite his reasonable salary.
