NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, January 26
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Scottie Barnes – The Raptors are going to be shorthanded, as they have already ruled out Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl. With OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam both gone, there’s a ton of usage and a lot of minutes that have opened up. Barnes should do a little more ball handling, which could raise his assist floor. He’s likely to see an uptick in minutes, which should raise his overall floor. A matchup against the Clippers isn’t ideal, but we’ve seen Barnes top 55 fantasy points in 2 of his last 3 games.
squirrelpatrol: RJ Barrett – With the Knicks, Barrett averaged 33.97 DK points per 36 minutes, but that number increased to 34.85 DK points per 36 minutes with Immanuel Quickley off the court. With Toronto, Barrett is averaging 39.98 DK points per 36 minutes and 46.95 DK points per 36 minutes with Quickley off the court. The RJ Barrett we’re seeing in Toronto is already a much better fantasy producer than we were used to in New York, and he becomes even better without Quckley on the court.
eys819: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – He gets a tough matchup against the Pelicans, but the guy is putting up an MVP-caliber season and is sitting around 10% pOWN% (that number likely plummets if Trae Young gets ruled out also). He has at least 31 points in 4 straight games and is averaging over 31 for the season. SGA is the type of player who can throw out matchups and hunt for the ceiling in any game.
Bobby Gomes: Giannis Antetokounmpo – The Greek Freak has a 33% usage rate this season despite the addition of Damian Lillard, and he has now dropped 80+ fantasy points in back-to-back games. Early pOWN% has Giannis near 5%. The Bucks are 3rd in offensive rating and 4th in pace. Like Luka Doncic and Joel Embiid, the high floor consistently sits around 60 fantasy points, and the ceiling is over 80.
