NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, February 5

Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Paul Reed – Game log watchers will see two very poor outings recently and be scared to click his name. We currently have his pOWN for 15% on FanDuel and 3% on DraftKings. I love the upside that he brings to the table. He has a path to 30 minutes with Joel Embiid out, and he draws one of the best matchups on the board. The Mavericks are 8th in pace, 29th in rebounding rate, and 24th in defensive rating. They are also missing their best center in Dereck Lively.

squirrelpatrol: Bruno Fernando – Onyeka Okongwu has started 2 games this season without Clint Capela. In those 2 games, Fernando and Okongwu never overlapped minutes, and Fernando put up 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks in 33 minutes across the 2 games. Fernando is only $3,800 (with PF/C eligibility) on FanDuel and $3,000 on DK and will put up his best games when Okongwu sees limited minutes due to foul trouble or ineffectiveness.

eys819: Kawhi Leonard – I will likely have at least one Atlanta player in every lineup (and potentially multiple players if Saddiq Bey and/or De’Andre Hunter get ruled out), so it makes sense to run it back with a Clippers player. Kawhi has shown the best ceiling for the Clippers, with Paul George slightly limited of late. I will have exposure to James Harden as well, but the positional eligibility will allow me to get to Kawhi Leonard more often. Point guard is a loaded position with guys like Luka Doncic and Tyrese Maxey in great spots.

TastefulTides: James Harden – This is for DK only since Harden is projecting for over 20% ownership on FD. However, on DK, he is showing up at 5%. This is one of the best possible matchups you can get facing this terrible Atlanta defense, and they also play at a top-5 pace. The Beard has legit triple-double upside and is going to get squeezed in ownership due to the fact that there are so many strong plays at his price point. I think he makes for an excellent pivot off of Tyrese Maxey, or you can play them together if you elect to play a more balanced lineup.
