NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, March 18
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Anthony Edwards – Even though the Wolves have ruled out Karl-Anthony Towns and are facing the Jazz (10th in pace and 29th in defensive rating), Edwards is only projecting for 8% ownership on FanDuel and 12% ownership on DraftKings. This likely has something to do with the fact that he’s now priced over $10,000. There’s that mental hurdle when players are suddenly a lot more expensive. He has topped 50 fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games, and I like his chances of doing that again tonight.
squirrelpatrol: Payton Pritchard – Boston has already ruled out some players, with Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, and Sam Hauser all out for tonight’s game. With those three off the court this season, Boston’s leader in minutes isn’t Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown (either of whom could also sit); it’s Payton Pritchard. Pritchard averages 1.07 DK points per minute with Holiday, Horford, and Hauser off the court this season in 181 minutes, compared to his season average of 0.85 DK points per minute.
eys819: Darius Garland – Evan Mobley, and Max Strus remain out, and Donovan Mitchell will now miss another game after a brief return. Garland has struggled to find a ceiling performance in this situation more than expected, but he certainly has a prime matchup to get it done. Indiana ranks 2nd in pace and 25th in defensive rating. Garland is currently showing sub-10% pOWN% on FD and sub-5% pOWN% on DK.
TastefulTides: On DraftKings, it’s going to be Josh Hart for me. The Knicks have already ruled out OG Anunoby, so we have Hart projected to play 39 minutes. I will bet the over on that. He has triple-double upside and is one of the best rebounding wings in the NBA. He has a tremendous floor/ceiling combination and isn’t currently projected that strongly in terms of points per dollar. On FanDuel, we have a completely different slate with only 5 games, and the POR/CHI game is one I’m looking to stack. I will keep an eye on the pOWN% of DeMar DeRozan and Ayo Dosunmu throughout the day. If they are below the 20% mark, they are players I’d like to game stack with Deandre Ayton.
