NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, February 29
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Dejounte Murray – He’s usually an auto-click when Trae Young is out of the lineup, but his price is way up, and the Hawks have an extremely low team total this evening. That is leading to low projected ownership on Murray. I’m more than willing to look his way in tournaments, as he has averaged 1.32 DK / 1.29 FD points per minute with Young off the floor this season. A matchup against the Nets isn’t the best on the board, but it’s certainly not the worst. He has upside of 50+ fantasy points at low projected ownership.
squirrelpatrol: Victor Wembanyama – Wembanyama has seen his price increase, but his minutes have been increasing as well. Last game, he played more than 34 minutes for the first time since November. Wembanyama may someday cause fantasy sites to change their scoring system. He has averaged 5.3 blocks over his past 6 games, along with 23 points and 2.7 steals, and he has gone over 73 DK points twice. Now his minutes are increasing.
headChopper: Klay Thompson – Andrew Wiggins is out tonight. That should help Klay’s minutes get a slight boost in a competitive game. Look at my standout stat that I highlighted above. Klay is a weapon off the bench, even more so with CP3 there on the second unit to distribute to him. Even on a small-ish 6-game slate, Klay is projected at minuscule ownership.
eys819: Devin Booker – The Suns get what looks to be a difficult matchup against the Rockets, who have hung around the top 5 in defensive rating this season. Houston has not been as stingy recently, though, as they rank just 19th in defensive rating over their last 10 games. Booker can win in any matchup, and he has a chance to see elevated usage if Bradley Beal or Eric Gordon (both questionable) miss this game.
