NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, February 8

Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Anthony Edwards – Chop and I are on the same page here. Edwards is going to get lost in the shuffle tonight because he doesn’t project as well as some of the other superstars and because the Wolves are one of the only teams that are at full strength. They draw a nice matchup on the road against the Bucks, and this sets up particularly well for Edwards. Milwaukee has historically been tough on centers, and Karl-Anthony Towns is going to have his hands full with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

squirrelpatrol: Kyrie Irving – Kyrie is averaging 29 points, 5.7 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game in 2024, compared to 23 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game in October-December this season. His price has come down over the past month after being priced up with Luka Doncic out, and he gets a big stage against a short-handed Knicks team tonight.

headChopper: Anthony Edwards – Early ownership projections look miniscule for Edwards. He has massive upside and is coming off of a 38/12 game on Tuesday. He is in a competitive game tonight against the Bucks, who can score but have struggled to defend this season. Edwards makes for a great play in large-field GPPs where he will be minimally owned and could be pushed to score in a fun game.

eys819: Taylor Hendricks – I am 100% on board with the Anthony Edwards play from Chop and Noto, but I will go a different route to avoid redundancy. Taylor Hendricks should see meaningful rotation minutes with the trades of Simone Fontecchio, Ochai Agbaji, and Kelly Olynyk. We are projecting Walker Kessler to start, but I don’t think that is a certainty. Since Utah plays in the last game of the slate, it is unlikely we will know their starting lineup until after most games have locked. If Hendricks were to be announced in the starting lineup before lock, he would be massively owned. I am hoping most of the field has locked in early values and will not have the flexibility to swap into Hendricks if he is a surprise announcement in the starting lineup.
