NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, February 6
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Lauri Markkanen – On most slates this size, Markkanen would garner a decent chunk of ownership. However, he’s flying under the radar because this is shaping up to be a true stars-and-scrubs type of slate. The Jazz draw a pace-up matchup at home against the Thunder, who have allowed the 3rd-most 3-point attempts to power forwards. He could also see a slight matchup boost if Jalen Williams is unable to suit up. Markkanen has topped 50 fantasy points in 3 of his last 6 games and projects for less than 10% ownership on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
squirrelpatrol: Jalen Green – With Fred VanVleet off the court this season, Green sees a +0.15 DK point per minute increase and gets the biggest usage increase on the Rockets (6.3% increase). Indiana allows the most points in the paint per game in the NBA, and Green ranks 2nd on the Rockets in PITP per game (after Alperen Sengun).
headChopper: Jalen Green – His projected ownership looks better on DK, but on a small slate, I still want to be overweight on Green regardless in GPPs. The masses will gravitate to Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun with Fred VanVleet out, but there might not be a player on this roster that benefits more from the added pace and lack of defensive chops by Indiana than Green. I’m not sure if they are showcasing Green for a trade or if he has really benefitted from the individual sit-down with the head coach, but Green has recently been receiving ample minutes and showing a real fantasy upside with his all-around game.
Stevietpfl: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – The Thunder have a 123.5 implied team total, which is one of the highest on the slate. They’re ranked 5th in offensive rating this season. Utah plays at the 9th-fastest pace, and they’re ranked 25th in defensive rating. They’re also allowing the 2nd-most fantasy points per game to opposing guards. SGA is averaging 34.5 minutes per game this season and has a 32% usage rate, which is one of the highest on the slate.
