NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, January 23
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Julius Randle – He’s currently projecting for 13% ownership on FanDuel and 17% ownership on DraftKings. For a 5-game slate, that’s contrarian enough for me. Jalen Brunson has been on a tear recently, which should help keep the attention off Randle. He should play as many minutes as he can handle tonight, as Isaiah Hartenstein is not expected to play. This opens up 33-35 minutes in the rotation. He draws a nice matchup against the Nets.
squirrelpatrol: Chet Holmgren – Portland allows the 4th-most points in the paint and gives up the 6th-most rebounds per game to opponents. They also give up the 3rd-most blocks per game in the NBA. All of this is good news for Chet Holmgren, who is 3rd on the Thunder in points and leads the team in rebounds and blocks.
headChopper: Paul George – PG13 is a steady contributor in fantasy who never seems to get the big ownership, even on smallish slates like tonight. He has a nice salary on both sites that sits slightly to the north of midrange, making him very playable. In the last 12 games, George has played 34+ minutes in 10 of them. He hits on multiple scoring categories, including averaging 23.6 points, 5.6 boards, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 stocks per game, so he has avenues to keep his DFS scoring afloat even if he isn’t shooting much or shooting well.
Stevietpfl: Michael Porter Jr – The Pacers rank 27th in defensive rating this season. They’ve struggled with wing players all season, and they’re allowing the 3rd-most fantasy points per game to small forwards. When these two teams played on the 14th of January, Porter Jr scored 25 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. I want to be overweight on Davis/Leonard, so it’s going to lead me to be underweight on Jokic.
