The NBA gets back to work on Tuesday with a six-game slate tipping off with the Bulls visiting Philadelphia at 7 PM ET, followed by three games at 8 PM ET: the Nets visiting the Pelicans, the Spurs in Memphis, and the Celtics visiting Oklahoma City. We finish the slate with two games at 10 PM ET as Orlando visits the Warriors and the Hornets visit the Kings. We have a few games on blowout alert as the Bulls are 10.5-point underdogs to the 76ers, the Spurs are 11-point underdogs to Memphis, and the Hornets are 15.5-point underdogs against the Kings.
Even though we have a healthy six games on the slate, injury news is limited right now with Trey Murphy and Markelle Fultz the only players listed as questionable as of early this afternoon. Let’s hope the NBA has made a New Year’s resolution to keep their players playing, and their injury reports reported. Speaking of New Year’s resolutions, let’s sort through the slate and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.

Point Guards Who Can Improve Our Finances

It’s important to improve our financial health in 2024, and we start with a handful of point guards who can keep us on budget. Ish Smith got the start for the Hornets last night against Denver and played 29 minutes, although he only put up 15.6 FanDuel points and 17.75 DraftKings points in the team’s 18-point loss to Denver. Smith is a value play again tonight with the hope that he can do more with his minutes. Nick Smith is another cheap point guard option for the Hornets, assuming Terry Rozier is out again. Nick Smith should see significantly lower ownership than Ish Smith.
Smith was one of the team’s first-round picks, got blowout run yesterday, and should be in the rotation regardless, entering the game in the 1st Quarter yesterday and playing every minute that Ish Smith didn’t play. Chris Paul started the last game for the Warriors and put up over 44 fantasy points on both sites and barely saw his price move, making him a point guard to consider again tonight. If we’re looking to splurge at the position, Ja Morant is in play leading a Memphis team with the highest implied point total on the night (123.5).
