NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Friday, January 12th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Friday everyone!
Kids are the best. Even when they are being mischievous, they are the best. Me and my ex-wife are still great friends, which has really helped on the co-parenting front. My little one was staying at his mom’s house the other night, and she had fallen asleep on the couch. He woke up at 3:00 AM and couldn’t get back to sleep. Rather than trying to wake her up, he tried to sneak around her to get the charger for his iPad. She woke up and told him to go back to bed. Not long after, he tried to do it again and was denied. He’s nothing if not persistent, as the third attempt was the charm.
When she told me the story the next morning, I couldn’t help but laugh. I know every parent says this, but he is seriously the sweetest kid that you will ever meet. I told her that I would talk to him when I picked him up from school. I asked him for his side of the story, and sure enough, he recounted the same details. Although the tone in his voice was much different than his mother’s. He had a smirk on his face the whole time. Once again, I couldn’t help but laugh. I made sure to tell him not to do it again, and he said he learned his lesson because he could barely stay awake all day at school.
It’s the little things in life that we need to cherish. Speaking of little things, I finally had a decent night of NBA DFS on Wednesday. Since Taylor Smith covered the Core Plays yesterday, I decided to take Thursday off from playing. The way I see it, I am trending! As for tonight, there are 10 games on the schedule. FanDuel and DraftKings have both decided to roll out an 8-game main slate. We get an extra 30 minutes to tinker with our lineups, as the first game doesn’t tip-off until 7:30 PM ET.

Team Previews
Sacramento Kings (at PHI): We kick off the slate with the Kings, who are 23-14 on the season and who have a winning record both on the road and at home. They have a tough draw tonight against the Sixers, who are 12th in pace and 2nd in defensive rating. The fact that Joel Embiid is out certainly helps, and the Kings come into the game with a team total that is higher than their season average. Kevin Huerter is listed as questionable for this game, so we’ll have to keep an eye on his status. Chris Duarte and Malik Monk would be the main beneficiaries in his absence. Domantas Sabonis (1.46 DK / 1.39 FD) projects the best of anyone on the Kings and sees a matchup boost with Embiid being out. De’Aaron Fox is a decent tournament play, but likely only for large-field contests.
Philadelphia 76ers (vs. SAC): The Sixers have lost 3 games in a row and are still playing without their MVP. Tonight they host the Kings, who are 11th in pace and 16th in defensive rating. This isn’t the top matchup on the slate, but it’s still a favorable one. The Sixers enter the game with a team total that is a point higher than their season average. In addition to Joel Embiid being out, the Sixers will also be without Robert Covington. Here’s the CourtIQ with those two off the floor this season:
