Happy Friday!

The weekend is finally here, and it’s expected to crack 50 degrees in Utah for the first time all week. One friendly reminder for everyone out there — this Sunday is Mother’s Day. I know life gets busy, but you should find time to do something special for all the moms in your life. This means your mom and the mother of your children. Without them, you and your kids wouldn’t be here. Most of what I try to teach my son goes through one ear and out the other, but being there for our moms is something that I don’t let him forget. It’s not easy at times (especially since mine moved a couple of neighborhoods over and often needs my help), but I’m always there for her when she calls.

Now, let’s get back to basketball. We saw not one, but two, upsets on the road last night. There must be something about Game 2s that the Celtics don’t like. They lost to the Heat in the first round in Game 2 and were blown out by the Cavaliers last night. They now have to pick up a win on the road, or they will find themselves watching the Eastern Conference Finals from the comfort of their homes. The Mavericks also picked up a road win thanks to a 29-point triple-double from Luka Doncic. Each series is tied at a game apiece, and we’ll see both in action again on Saturday.

Let’s dive into the team previews for tonight’s 2-game slate. Cheers to the weekend everyone.

Team Previews

New York Knicks (at IND): The Knicks nearly lost Game 1 at home and were down by double-digits at the half in Game 2. It hasn’t been easy, but they have managed to escape with two wins and have a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. Tonight, they travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers, who will be fired up for a must-win game at home. It’s a tough spot all around, as the Knicks are dealing with injuries. Jalen Brunson hurt his foot in Game 2 and is listed as questionable, while OG Anunoby has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Knicks enter tonight’s game as 7-point underdogs but have a respectable team total of 108 points.

Given the tight rotation and the absence of Anunoby, the Knicks will be the most popular team to target on this small slate. They haven’t announced their starting lineup yet, but we will likely see Miles McBride or Precious Achiuwa draw the start for Anunoby. Regardless of who starts, both players should see an uptick in playing time. I will note that the starter will have the easier path to 30+ minutes, as we know Tom Thibodeau doesn’t mind keeping his starters on the floor. It’s not the worst idea to target both in the same lineup. Brunson continues to play some incredible basketball, scoring 60 and 46 fantasy points (only 8 minutes in the 1st half), respectively, in the first 2 games of the series. The price is finally coming up a bit (especially on FanDuel), but he’s still an excellent option in all formats.

At this point, how can you make a case against Josh Hart? He has played every single minute in this series, and now Anunoby is out. Somehow, Thibodeau is going to find a way to get Hart 50+ minutes. On top of the insane playing time, Hart has averaged well over a fantasy point per minute in the first 2 games. He’s not priced up enough to consider a fade. Donte DiVincenzo didn’t play great in the first round but has scored 36 and 46 fantasy points, respectively, in the first 2 games of this series. With Anunoby out, he’ll likely be asked to play 40+ minutes in a nice matchup. Right from the start of the series, I’ve been telling everyone to play Isaiah Hartenstein. Foul trouble isn’t nearly as much of a concern against the Pacers as it was against the Sixers, and he doesn’t have a lot of competition for minutes.

Is it crazy to say there are six elite plays from the Knicks? The only path I see to them failing in DFS is a blowout loss.
