So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Monday and congrats to all of the Chiefs and Niners fans out there.
We typically ease into the week with a moderate-sized NBA slate on Mondays, but that is not the case this evening. There are 12 games on the schedule. We have 5 teams playing on the second half of a back-to-back (Suns, Grizzlies, Thunder, Magic, Blazers) and 5 teams playing on the front end (Knicks, Celtics, Jazz, Lakers, Sixers). This is sure to be a day filled with injury news, so keep an eye on the updates section all the way up to lineup lock. FanDuel is rolling out a 10-game main slate, while DraftKings is rolling out an 11-game main slate.
I don’t have any amusing stories from the weekend, so let’s dive right into this big slate.

Team Previews
New York Knicks (at CHA): We kick off tonight’s schedule with the Knicks, who have been the best defensive team in the NBA since acquiring OG Anunoby. Tonight they travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets, who are 27th in rebounding rate and 30th in defensive rating. It’s one of the best possible matchups, but the Knicks come into the game with a team total that is nearly identical to their season average. That has more to do with Julius Randle being out than the matchup. Here’s the CourtIQ with Randle off the floor this season:

Surprisingly, Quentin Grimes sees the biggest boost with Randle off the floor. He prob won’t start but is still a nice value play off the bench. Jalen Brunson is one of the top spends of the slate, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart should both see upticks in playing time, and the likes of Isaiah Hartenstein and Anunoby could see an uptick in rebounding. Ultimately, we have a team missing their best fantasy producer and that is facing the worst defense in basketball. It’s a good spot to load up on the Knicks.
Charlotte Hornets (vs. NYK): The Hornets have lost 8 of their last 10 games and are 24 games below .500 on the season. They have a tough draw against the Knicks, who are 27th in pace, 1st in rebounding rate, and 7th in defensive rating this season. The Hornets are still without Mark Williams and Gordon Hayward, while LaMelo Ball and Frank Ntilikina are listed as questionable. The hope is that Ball can suit up so we can feel good about a full fade of the Hornets.
