NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Sunday, March 3rd

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Sunday! We’ve got a decent mix of afternoon and evening NBA action on tap for today. You can wet your whistle with a 3-game early slate tipping at 1 ET, but the main event is starting at 6. I didn’t wake up expecting to use “wet your whistle” in a sentence today because it’s not the 14th century, but life is full of surprises.
Interestingly enough, DraftKings and FanDuel are doing things a little differently tonight. The FD slate is a 4-gamer, while DK has 5 games with the inclusion of the late-night Thunder-Suns affair that tips 2.5 hours after the 7pm ET contests. This is a late-swap slate for DK, so you’ll be able to adjust for any potential injury shenanigans.
Let’s dive right on into this main slate.

News Updates
11:15 AM ET: Brandon Miller is good to go, but the Hornets downgraded Nick Richards to questionable with a foot injury. We’ll have an update in time considering this game tips at 6 ET, but the Charlotte frontcourt is in shambles. Bridges, Williams, and Bertans would presumably log most of the frontcourt minutes if Richards is out, while someone like JT Thor, Marques Bolden, or Nathan Mensah likely enters the picture. Richards sitting would also make this spot more appealing for Jakob Poeltl on the other side.
Team Previews
Charlotte Hornets (at TOR): The Hornets are 7-point underdogs in Toronto today, which is a pretty clear indication of just how dreadful the Hornets are these days. Charlotte will be without Cody Martin and Seth Curry tonight in addition to the usual suspects, LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams. This backcourt is awfully thin now. Vasilije Micic and Tre Mann are really the only healthy guards left standing. Both have played well since coming over from OKC, though the cheaper Micic grades out as the better point-per-dollar value. We have Grant Williams projected to start in the frontcourt in place of Curry, though most of the usage will flow through Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller. Even Davis Bertans is projected for 20 minutes off the bench, though I’d be reluctant to look his way in GPPs if he’s going to garner any ownership.
