NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Sunday, November 5th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. On weekends, jack-of-all-trades Taylor Smith takes the reins. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Last night’s slate was a fun one, so here’s hoping you won yourself some coin ahead of another big NFL Sunday. Of course, the NBA doesn’t stop just because football is on. We’ve got 5 games on the basketball schedule for today, but just 3 of them are included on the main slate. Make sure to note that today’s slate starts an hour earlier than usual at 6 PM ET.
We’re not currently expecting this to be a whirlwind of a slate featuring a ton of injury news, especially considering the Hornets are the only team playing the second half of a back-to-back tonight. There does seem to be ample value out there tonight, while there are quite a few attractive spend-up options as well.
Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Team Previews
Golden State Warriors (at CLE): Klay Thompson is questionable with a groin issue for the Warriors tonight when they face the Cavs in Cleveland. This isn’t a great matchup considering the Cavs finished first in defensive rating last season, but they’ve slumped to 14th in the early going so far this year. Klay sitting tonight would presumably vault Chris Paul back into the starting unit and put CP3 squarely into play in all formats. Thompson himself stands out as a nice value on FanDuel ($5,200), though he’s admittedly off to a tough start. Steph Curry has seen his usage spike by nearly 8% in the minutes he’s played without Klay so far this season.
Cleveland Cavaliers (vs. GSW): The Cavs got back to full strength with Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen returning in the last game, though Isaac Okoro is questionable for tonight with a sore knee. Allen logged just 21 minutes in what was his season debut, while Garland played 32 after missing a few games with a hamstring injury. Donovan Mitchell is off to a flying start with a usage rate north of 33%, while they’ve also gotten steady production from Evan Mobley (1.25 FP/min). Mitchell is one of the better spends on the board, as we saw in the last game that there’s still a ceiling there even with Garland back. Given the pace-up matchup against Golden State, I don’t hate the idea of deploying Garland in tournaments at his sub-$8,000 salaries, either.
