NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Tuesday, February 27th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Tuesday, everyone.
In yesterday’s article, I mentioned the importance of enjoying life’s small moments and how I am making an effort to not check my phone as often when spending time with my family. A couple of RotoGrinders members reached out and said that yesterday’s intro really resonated with them. I love that. I don’t pretend to have all of life’s answers figured out, but I do believe that making small improvements every day can lead to a much more fulfilling life. I like sharing my anecdotes with you all and hope they provide some small entertainment outside of the regular matchup and projection breakdowns that this article offers.
I don’t have any interesting stories to share with you today. We don’t have time for nonsense anyway, as there are 11 NBA games on the schedule. Four teams are playing in the front half of a back-to-back (Pelicans, Mavericks, Wolves, Bulls), and four teams are playing in the second half of a back-to-back (Pistons, Knicks, Nets, Heat). FanDuel and DraftKings are both offering a 9-game main slate and a 2-game late slate. The rankings tables will focus on the main slate, but as always, we’ll cover the two late games in the team previews and news updates sections.

Team Previews
Dallas Mavericks (at CLE): We kick off the slate with the Mavericks, who draw a tough matchup on the road. The Cavaliers are a slow-paced team that is 2nd in the NBA in defensive rating this season. The Mavericks should be able to keep this game competitive, but they have a total that is 3.8 points below their season average. Dante Exum has been ruled out, but everyone else should be available tonight. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are always viable in tournaments, but they are far from priorities on a slate this size. They don’t project as well as some of the other superstars tonight.
Cleveland Cavaliers (vs. DAL): The Cavaliers have been one of the best teams in basketball over the last month of play, but they surprisingly have a better record on the road than they do at home. Tonight they host the Mavericks, who are 9th in pace and 20th in defensive rating. The Cavaliers are small favorites and come into the game with a total that is 4.3 points higher than their season average. They have dealt with nearly as many injuries as any team in the league this season but should be at full strength for tonight’s game. There’s not a lot that stands out here from a projections standpoint. Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland have positive RGValues, but so do a lot of superstars on this slate. Jarrett Allen is a sneaky tournament play, as the Mavericks are 28th in rebounding rate this season.
