NBA Expert Picks Preview: Monday, February 9th
Glean insight from the best minds in the industry as they list picks they’ll actually be targeting in their cash games, along with detailed analysis and reasoning.
POINT GUARD
With the injury to Blake Griffin, there is a pile of usage just waiting to scooped up. Outside of Jamal Crawford, the Clippers have a horrific bench, and therefore the burden to score will be increased Paul this evening. If you watch their games, you’d notice that the Los Angeles point guard tends to pick his spots as to when he wants to get heavily involved in the offense, but again, he’s not really not in a position to defer much now. He put up 52 DK points in the first game without Blake, and a matchup vs Dallas is a good one. There are multiple top PGs that are worthy of being highlighted in this spot (namely John Wall and Russell Westbrook), but CP3 is most likely to land in my lineups.
J.J. Barea, $4,600 vs LA Clippers
I’m not a fan of picking on the aforementioned Chris Paul‘s defense, but the combination of Barea’s price and recent minutes is hard to neglect. J.J. has been starting for the injured Rajon Rondo and has logged at least 28 minutes while posting no less than 23 DraftKings points. The price has been raised to the point that he’s no longer a “lock and load” play, but the Dallas PG is still worthy of your consideration.
SHOOTING GUARD
Monta Ellis, $7,700 vs LA Clippers
This has to be a mistake. This is a H2H article and not GPP article, right? It’s true, I rarely like to unleash Ellis in cash games, but he’s in an enticing spot tonight. The Mavericks are eight-point favorites in a game with the second biggest over/under on the Las Vegas board. We like to roster wings against the Clippers and I have a hard time seeing the likes of Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford checking Monta. I suppose CP3 might check Monta at times, but I’d guess that Matt Barnes is on Chandler Parsons, leaving Ellis in a plus matchup most of the evening. In a previous meeting, Ellis put up a 40 spot on LA earlier this year, and I feel good about the prospects of a repeat performance.
Elijah Millsap, $3,200 at New Orleans
Truth be told, I don’t want to roster Elijah. I’m hopeful value will open up where I don’t have to consider the Utah shooting guard. That said, he shouldn’t kill you this evening. Millsap played 36 minutes last game and drew the start as Joe Ingles (who is doubtful tonight) was unable to dress. His usage wasn’t spectacular, but simply from being on the court for such a long time, while at the site minimum price, puts him in play. Paul’s brother was able to ugly his way into scoring 22 DK points last game, and a repeat performance would be perfectly acceptable tonight.
