SMALL FORWARD
Harrison Barnes, $5,100 vs New Orleans
To make it clear, I’m not writing about Barnes over Lebron or Anthony because I think he is a better player. If you have the salary to pay for one of those guys, and I believe you can, by all means do so. I just don’t think you need me to point out to you that they are in play on a three game slate. As for Harrison, he’s been super solid of late. Barnes has scored at least 19.9 FD points in 9 of his last 10 games. I’d keep an eye on Draymond Green, who is currently questionable, as if he somehow misses tonight’s game, it would give a slight bump to Harrison, while opening up some potential value off the Golden State bench (Iguolada and Speights).
Other SFs to consider – Lebron James, Nicolas Batum, Carmelo Anthony
POWER FORWARD
Amar’e Stoudemire, $5,500 vs Cleveland
It appears that Amar’e has found the Fountain of Youth. How else to explain his recent bump in minutes? He’s been starting and has logged 37 minutes in back-to-back games. The man known as STAT has more than paid off his asking price, and his salary has not caught up to recent minutes adjustment. If this continues I’d have a really hard time not seeing him continue to hit value as he has being scoring over a fantasy point per minute on the season. I’m going to have a hard time not rostering Stoudemire tonight.
Other PFs to consider – Anthony Davis, Marreese Speights
CENTER
Anderson Varejao, $5,100 at New York
Comparative shopping is a nice way to identify value. If you watch our GrindersLive shows you’ll know that we always say that whenever a player is cheaper on FD than he is on DK, he’s either a value on one site or overpriced on the other. Of course I wouldn’t bring this up if Anderson wasn’t cheaper on FD (despite the lower target multiplier). The “Wild Man” should be able to grab 10ish boards vs a suspect New York interior which gives him a stable floor. Throw in the fact that his energy leads to tip-ins as well as a steal or block here and there, and he’s well on his way to (at least) hit a 20 fantasy point threshold.
Other Cs to consider – Andrew Bogut, Robin Lopez
