Point Guard
Ty Lawson – Lawson’s price has come down a bit to a manageable $8,400. Denver travels to Philly tonight to face the Sixers, who will likely be without Michael Carter-Williams. MCW left last night’s game with an injury, and the Sixers simply have no reason to play him at less than 100%. This means Larry Drew II will likely get another start, and be tasked with defending Lawson. I have a hard time envisioning a scenario where Lawson doesn’t put up big numbers tonight. He’s the safest non-Steph Curry pick available, and I would lock him into my cash game lineups tonight.
D.J. Augustin – Much of the daily fantasy world was burned by Augustin in what should have been a cupcake matchup against the Sixers. Augustin then trolled all of us by putting up another huge game against the Rockets and tough defender Patrick Beverley. The fact of the matter is that Augustin has been incredible in 3 of 4 games as the starter for the Pistons, and I’m willing to overlook the dud against Philly given what he’s been doing lately. The Pistons as a whole were awful against the Sixers, and games like that are anomalies that are a part of sports. The Heat play painfully slow, but they’re not a good defensive team, and Augustin should be able to eclipse 30 fantasy points tonight, making him a solid play at $7000.
Shooing Guard
Arron Afflalo – Afflalo has been extremely consistent this season, and that’s exactly what we’re looking for in our cash game lineups. He draws a terrific matchup with the Sixers, a team that has really struggled to defend opposing wings this season. Vegas has assigned this game a slightly lower over/under than I would have expected, but given Denver’s lack of depth, Afflalo can be expected to play 36 or more minutes in what should be a fairly close game between two bad teams. He seems like a lock for 25 fantasy points with upside over 30. That’s an easy cash game play for $5,500 at a position with few attractive options.
Klay Thompson – Klay gets another matchup with the same team he dropped 37 points on in one quarter. While I’m certainly not expecting a repeat performance, the fact remains that the Kings are awful against opposing shooting guards, and Klay is one of the best in the business. The fact that the game is being played in Sacramento increases the likelihood that things stay competitive, and given shooting guard is full of a bunch of guys that I would never classify as consistent, Klay is someone I’m going to try my best to fit into cash game lineups tonight. He may seem a bit overpriced, and while that might be true, his high floor is what I’m really interested in.
