NBA Expert Picks Preview: Tuesday, March 10th

Glean insight from the best minds in the industry as they list picks they’ll actually be targeting in their cash games, along with detailed analysis and reasoning.
Tuesday, March 10
Point Guard
Reggie Jackson – Jackson is locked into around 34 minutes as the starting point guard for Detroit, and that should be more than enough time for him to post a very solid line against the Lakers tonight. LA has been bleeding fantasy points to opposing point guards all season, while Jackson has a lot of upside relative to his $6900 price tag. He’ll likely be one of the more highly-owned players tonight, but with point guard lacking any high-priced options, it just doesn’t make sense to fade him.
Tony Parker – Parker is coming off of two 40+ fantasy point performances, so perhaps he’s over whatever it was that was causing him to play horribly for most of the season. He draws a very favorable matchup against a Raptors team that has completely forgotten how to play defense. In fact, Toronto holds the worst defensive rating in the entire league for the month of March. They’ve also allowed the third-most points to opposing point guards over the last three weeks, though that does include a game against the cyborg known as Russell Westbrook. Regardless, Parker is very cheap relative to his recent performance, and in a matchup with a Raptors team that should be able to keep this game close enough, he makes for an easy cash game play for me.
Shooting Guard
Rodney Stuckey – Shooting guard is fairly bleak tonight. Victor Oladipo’s price has risen dramatically, and if Nikola Vucevic returns to the lineup, he’s going to be anything but an attractive play on the road against the Pacers. I do like Stuckey, however. He plays around 30 minutes off the bench, and has been consistently offering somewhere around 25-30 fantasy points on most nights. He draws a favorable matchup with the Magic, and there’s no reason to expect his trend of production to end tonight.
Eric Gordon – Gordon has a couple of duds over the past several games, but he’s mostly been consistent. He generally doesn’t pay off his price tag, but this pick is made assuming that Tyreke Evans, who injured the same ankle that caused him to miss time last season, will not suit up tonight. If Evans is out, expect Gordon to take more shots, and handle the ball more as well. He should do a bit more scoring, and his assist total will likely increase as well. The Nets have allowed the fourth-most points to opposing shooting guards this season. I think Monta Ellis will be popular after his big game against the Lakers, but I don’t care much for him given his inconsistencies and the fact that he’s likely playing hurt. I think Gordon is the better option tonight, assuming Evans is out.
Editor’s Note – Evans is OUT tonight. Norris Cole should start and makes for an excellent plug-and-play value option at point guard.
