Point Guard
Reggie Jackson – If you like players that consistent net you 40+ fantasy points, and are cheaper than the available studs, R-Jax is your man. His lowest point total in his last five games is 42.3, and I feel very confident that he will continue his very productive ways against a Hawks team that will likely be resting many, if not all, of its starters tonight. That means a matchup with Shelvin Mack, and that’s not even remotely worrisome. As I’ve said many times before, start your lineups with Jackson, then work on the other positions.
Editor’s Note: The Hawks will have their regular starting five out there for tonight’s game.
Shelvin Mack – I’m reasonably confident that, at the very least, Jeff Teague won’t be suiting up tonight on the tail end of a back to back. I think it’s fair to assume some combination of other Hawks starters will sit this one out, and with Dennis Schroder not making the trip to Detroit, Mack should be in line for a ton of minutes. Priced at the absolutely minimum, he makes for a very solid value play today, assuming the Hawks do what we expect them to do.
Shooting Guard
Klay Thompson – Thompson’s price has dropped down to $7000, and his minutes ramped up to 34 last game, meaning he’s likely off whatever restriction he had been on coming off injury. Tonight’s game between the Warriors and the Clippers is the one to target, and I’m expecting a very solid fantasy outing from Thompson in what should be a high-scoring, close game.
Kenvatious Caldwell-Pope – KCP wasn’t very good last game, but I expect a much better performance when the Pistons return home to face a Hawks team that will likely be playing their backups. Greg Monroe has already been ruled out, so we can expect KCP to be shooting early and often, just as he has in the other games Monroe has missed. Shooting guard is bleak as always, and I’ll happily roster a player for $5300 that has a good chance to take 15-20 shots.
